Agentic Orchestration: Platform Consolidation Masks a Larger Deployment Challenge

Enterprises are gravitating toward leading model providers to run agent orchestration, valuing strong underlying models and reliable multi-step execution. That consolidation simplifies some supplier management but creates a new set of subtler challenges: many deployments are conceptually agents but operationally remain single-turn chatbots, and critical control capabilities-real-time fiscal limits, robust sandboxing, and composable orchestration-are often missing or hybridized.

For business leaders this means choosing a model provider is only the first step. The real differentiator is the orchestration layer you build around models: how you sequence calls, manage state, enforce guardrails, log and audit actions, and maintain routing between model types or external tools. Without that control plane, you risk vendor lock-in, surprise billing, and brittle multi-step flows that degrade in production.
